Single Person Awareness Day

You say Valentines Day; I say Single Person Awareness Day.

I mean, what is it with this holiday? Everyone (including myself...when I actually have a boyfriend) expects V-day to be the most romantic night ever. Fancy Dinners. Chocolates (which thank god I don't have a bf because chocolates are the last thing my hips need). Flowers. Ect. Ect. Ect.

Well, since I didn't have to worry about all the aforementioned expectations I found myself thinking about WHY I don't have a man in my life. And this is what I came up with: I'm not settling. And when I think about my status in that light...it actually isn't so bad.

Pulled directly from actual personal experience or tales from my closets girlfriends...

I don't want:
  • A man that will only love me if I live in his world
  • Anyone who licks their own dog (see here) or someone that doesn't like dogs at all (happy medium here people)
  • Someone who would spend more time looking at their self in the wall mirror at a restaurant than talking to me (needless to say this guy only got one date)
  • A complainer (I define a complainer as someone who complains at least 50% of the time, however, the man I'm speaking of here complained 85% of the time)
  • A man that is defined by his job (don't get me wrong, I want a man with a job but he needs to have other interest
  • Arrogance (is there a quicker turnoff?)
  • A family hater (while that may seem harsh, I've dated a guy that HATED how much time I spend my family)

So while Valentines Day may make the single gals MORE aware of their single-ness; I chose to think about all my crappy relationship mishaps and what my life could've been had I stayed with any of these men. And you know what I decided? My life could be much worse. Worse than being single. So, here's to all the single people!

By the Way, I have a sweet Work It Out Weekends post coming...stay tuned!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being single on vday! I know because I was. Plus I enjoyed not having to stress out about buying gifts and getting dressed up. Do anything fun on ur vday?

To tell you the truth, I'd rather be single on vday. just to spend it with a bunch of crazy girlfriends out there, drinking too much and have fun, look at hot single guys without being glared at ;P

Here here!

It was great to spend the night like every other night...with doggies and books and tv shows. :)

I couldn't agree with this post more! Seriously, while my last break-up really broke me, I like myself a lot better without him.

And yes, arrogance is such a turn-off. Blech!

You know what, I spent the Valentine's Day morning with my parents, and the afternoon/evening with my girlfriends.

And it was probably the best valentine's day ever.
