Shawnee Mission Triathlon

I was super excited/nervous for my triathlon yesterday. I got up at 515, ate a deliciously healthy breakfast, got all my gear packed up, and headed out. When we arrived at the park we unloaded our bikes, set up our transition area, had numbers painted on us in permanent marker and dropped a deuce. It was time. Time for a 30 minute rain delay. Followed by another delay and finally a cancellation!

Yep that's right: my very first triathlon got cancelled :(

My second triathlon is supposed to be at Lake Arrowhead. 1000 miles away from KC.

(We decided on Lake Arrowhead simply b/c it's an event we wanted to participate in AND that night Morgan Page is playing in DC. Two incredible events. One ridiculously long day. And what more could a girl ask for?

(Besides Morgan Page and I locking eyes, falling in love, and destined to live on a remote island for the rest......wait, BF is totally hot, and sweet, and will totally sweep me away to a secluded remote location, maybe not for the rest of our lives, but, definitely for a long weekend. Sooo, I take it all back: there is nothing more a girl could ask for....)

Anyway, I agreed to do the Olympic distance (1500 meter swim, 25mile swim, and 10k) only because I would have this one under my belt. I would know what to expect. I would know if I could manage freestyle swimming for a 1000 meters or if I would need the kayaks to save me. I would know how fast I could go on my blue sparkly mountain bike without getting freaked out. I would know how badly I would be dominated by the run! I suppose one month from now it will be sink or swim (no pun intended). I'm nervous and need to get to training.....

Oh, and I'm still trying to get those stupid numbers off! What's more lame than having the numbers 362 written on you (four times) and not being able to generate an awesome story when people ask why?

Nothing. That's what!
