Does That Say....Reset?!

It’s been about 2 days since I showered.  I’m embarrassed to admit the last time I showered was yesterday morning after my run.  I usually shower at night but last night when I headed upstairs to take my quick “before bed shower” I was greeted with FREEZING water.  I told Hubs and he said, “Don’t worry, I’ll fix it!”  He headed downstairs so I assumed he worked his magic on the water heater and was looking forward to a nice hot morning shower.

This morning we get up and drag our bottoms out of bed and head to the bathroom.  Hubs hopes in the shower first as I like to brush my teeth before I get in and he yelps-- the water was still FREEZING!  So, on with my day I ago…showerless.  (I had somewhere to be and didn’t have time to worry about the water AND I refuse to take an ice cold shower.)

So, tonight we come home and Hubs reminds me we don’t have hot water.  WHAT?  I assumed he did something this morning. L  Hubs heads back down to the water heater.  Then I hear a bunch of racing around and clanging in the kitchen.  When I got downstairs, I saw he had emptied a bucket under the sink all over the counter… concerned; I go see what’s up.

He’s standing in the utility closet with the bucket, turning a couple levers and saying he’s not sure what is going on.

Me: What are you doing?

Hubs:  Well, these levers don’t seem to do anything.

Me: (thinking) My dad never needed a bucket to catch water spilling into our house when I saw him work on the water heater while I was growing up.

Hubs:  Hmmmmmmmm

Me:  (starting to get really concerned) Do you think I should call my dad?

Hubs:  Does he know about plumbing stuff?

Me:  He knows how to work a water heater….

Hubs:  Maybe, we better call him.

Then I remembered the plate that comes off to adjust the temperature.  I’ve taken if off a couple times to warm up the water.  I LOVE a HOT shower.

Me:  What if we take off that plate.  There is stuff in there.  I’ve taken it off to adjust the temp before.

Hubs:  Ok, let’s see.

Hubs removes the plate off and what is there?  A big red reset button.

Hubs:  (looking really closely at the red button) Does that say reset?  Look, I think it says reset!

Me:  Yes, it says reset.

We push the button, it clicks, reset the breaker and the water heater powers up almost immediately.

Hubs:  I fixed the water heater!  Did you see I fixed the water heater?

Me:  Wait, I thought you told me to call my dad.  I’m the one that told you to take the plate off.

Hubs:  Oh, yeah….that’s what I meant.

Currently, we are watching a movie waiting for the water to heat up so I can wash two days worth of stank off!  Hubs is totally cuddling me, telling me I don’t stink at all; he might not be handy but he definitely knows how to make me feel special…
